Nearby

Aquadiver Water Park (20km)
Located on the outskirts of Playa De Aro this is one of the best water parks on the Costa Brava offering something for everyone. The Park opens in early June until mid-September.

Golf
The Costa Brava is home to some excellent courses including the PGA Catalunya, voted the best in Spain in 2012 and 2013. Eight of the region’s top courses have joined forces to offer a ‘Golf Pass’ which allows you to choose 3 or 5 green fees from 8 different courses. All the courses are within 50km of Palafrugell, the closest is only 10km away.

Diving
Take a trip to Estartit and visit the Illes Medes, the best natural reserve in the western Mediterranean. The diversity of depths provides diving opportunities for everyone from absolute beginners to the most experienced diver. However, if you don’t want to get your feet wet, you can visit the islands on a glass-bottomed boat.

Coastal Path
From the beach at Calella de Palafrugell you can follow the coastal path south to El Golfet, Cap Roig with its botanical garden or for the more adventurous on to Palamos!  Along the path there are several picturesque coves and small beaches as well as stunning views of the coastline.

Palamos (12 km)
Dating from the 12th century: this former fishing village is now a thriving coastal town, well equipped for tourism and leisure. The beaches, coves, sailing facilities and fishing port are the town's main attractions, although the medieval streets of its old town should not be forgotten.

Peratallada (17 km)
This lovely fortified medieval village is considered to be one of the most beautiful villages in Spain, with gorgeous carved stone buildings, narrow cobblestone streets and picturesque squares. Defensive walls surround parts of the village and the centre is dominated by the 10th century castle keep. It's a popular place for day-trippers who come here to soak up the medieval atmosphere but make sure that you stick around in the evenings for a romantic dinner at one of the numerous restaurants.  Taxi prices here from Castell Montgri are very reasonable and a taxi can be arranged for you by the campsite reception

Pals (12 km)
The beautiful medieval hill-top village of Pals is surrounded by the kind of rugged natural beauty you’ll only find in this part of the world, and is the perfect place to truly envelope yourself in local culture. Wander the narrow cobblestone streets, pop into one of the small galleries or enjoy a delicious meal at one of its traditional Catalan restaurants.

La Bisbal (16 km)
A charming town renowned for the production of ceramics, La Bisbal also hosts a weekly market (approx.150 stalls) which takes place in the town centre. There are plenty of shops to browse and a good selection of bars and restaurants.

Stroll around the streets and have a look at the wide variety of ceramic items that are produced here. If you would like to take away a craftwork souvenir of your trip, this is the best place to get one.

Our Client Reviews of La Siesta

We stayed from the 15th-22nd Jul in a 4 berth with Siesta holidays, we got a taxi/minbus from Girona airport aprox 80 euro's, reception were efficient and friendly and we got to our mobiles quickly, everything we needed in a shady spot not far from main pool, the reps were 2 older couples and were very efficient and friendly, we were having a trip down memory lane as we had stayed here 32 yrs ago then again 22 yrs ago.

The site hasn't really changed at all in all that time, i'd say it's more suited to younger families as not too much for the teenagers to do, entertainment at night starts too late though at 10pm.If you are traveling with just hand luggage no problems the prices for all your toiletries at the campsite supermarket are much the same as home so buy when you arrive, the prices for food are also very good similar to home too, the alcohol is very cheap a ltr bottle of San miguel 1.28 euro a very nice bottle of wine you'd pay £7-8 back home is 3.33 euro! If your eating in town go to the Calau Tapas bar but if your going at night be there for opening think it's 7pm as it gets busy to the point of big queue at door and that tells you how good it is.

There's also a lovely bakery to get your fresh bread, rolls pastries etc very cheap also you buy big bags of ice there too asthey're not in the supermarket, there's a toy shop/newagent the prices are as cheap or cheaper than town, my daughter got things for the kids she said were cheaper than amazon, but a wee tip there's lots of things left by other travellers to use in the Siesta office, toys, fishing nets, food items, cooking oil, shampoo, suntan lotion etc so go there and see what you can get first..

The town and beach is about 15-20 walk downhill, it is very pretty, the beach is tiny pebbles not sand so no sand everywhere which is great, La Franc along the road is also about 20 min walk and is very upmarket with it's marina, it's a chilled holiday in a very unspoiled part of Spain which we love.

I first took my family here in 1986. Loved the site, so relaxing. We went 4 years running then other places needed to be seen.
This year we returned with a grandchild. Loved it just as much. Air con and UK tv were a pleasant surprise.  If you cannot enjoy a family holiday here you are not trying.
Special thanks to Lisa and Wes. I shall return
SandiM - July 2016

Another excellent visit. Visited for Easter. Travelled with Siesta, great journey into resort. Great lodge right by the pool clean and very comfortable. The site is so clean and well maintained. All the staff are very friendly, special mention to Antonio in the bar, my children think he is ace as he looks after them with lollies :-) Food was loverly on site, good choices, always hot and reasonable prices, same with the bar prices. Fantastic pool, and kids club, the animation team go above and beyond with the children. Our Siesta reps were Wesley and Lisa, a credit to Siesta very friendly and helpfull, will as always return next year.
Carib1 - April 2016

Just returned from a weeks break, 2 adults, 2 teens and 2 under 10's. The site was very clean and we have no complaints about it. The pool was absolutely freezing but given the time of year that's to be expected. I'm sure in the summer it will be a busy place. The bar was fine, a bit small and the tables are very close together but as it was pretty quiet we were OK. I'm not sure I'd fancy it in summer. Prices were around €4 for a pint, €2 for a soft drink and €6 for a cocktail. The takeaway was decent and average prices, around €8 for a pizza, €10 for a whole roast chicken, €3 for chips and €4- €6 for burgers. The onsite supermarket was reseasonably priced and stocked most things, the bakery was also very good. There's an onsite pharmacy too although it wasn't open at any time we were there. The kids clubs appeared to be open, however there was no one there when we went along and the inflatables were all down. There were opem air movies advertised every evening but they never happened. I'm putting this down to the fact that the site was very quiet and at most there was probably 20 kids there when we stayed and so maybe it just wasn't worth doing. Saying that, maybe don't advertise it if it's not likely as the children can read and will end up disappointed. There's a small arcade there with the usual air hockey etc, €1 a game. The playground was quite big for a site of that size. If you want to use public transport to get around then you will have to walk up to Palafrugell, around a 30 min walk, to access buses to Palamos/Playa do Aro/Girona etc.
The weekend seemed to bring a lot of locals camping and they were extremely noisy until gone 1am. Children racing around on bikes chasing each other and adults sitting around tents drinking and getting louder. This could be worse in summer or possibly there would be more patrols to keep the noise down. It was only 2 nights of our stay but it was annoying.
Like I said, we have no real complaints and enjoyed our stay, maybe it was the time of year that let us down a little
GorgeousGeordie - April 2016

We spent another ten days here this August, this was probably our tenth time over the years at this wonderful resort.
Weather was great, not a drop of rain which meant a lot of fun family time spent around the large pool sunbathing and swimming in the pool.
We do enjoy the restaurants down at the seafront in Calella, nice food, a wonderfully relaxed atmosphere and not a drunken yob in sight. Perfect!
Many thanks to Siesta Holidays of Middlesbrough for once again arranging our holiday which also included a day at Disneyland Paris. Thank you Siesta!
Phil R - August 2015

Just returned from our first visit to La Siesta. From start to finish it was amazing. Lovely site with everything you could possibly need. Supermarket, bakery and bar food very reasonably priced. Calella is gorgeous and spent many hours just watching the world go buy. If you're looking for hustle, bustle, pubs and music this isn't the site for you. Already planning to return next year!
Linzi75 - August 2015

Just returned back from another visit from Camping La Siesta. A wonderful site that is so well kept and well maintained. Visited in April, very peaceful. Travelled with family, children loved the mini club and the animation team provide a great service to the children from drawing to clay moulding to making sure they are safe on the bouncy castle. We ate on site, food in the restaurant is quite English however it was nice to see some specials on the menu like sea food paella and spider crab with rice casserole. All food was delicious though. Staff were great as always, Antonio was fantastic with my children. We travelled as usual with Siesta by Club Class Premier coach which are great, very modern, comfy coaches with great on demand system. Coach drivers kept us well informed and the hostess provided a faultless service providing drinks and snacks all the way into resort. Siesta Apollo 8 lodge was our accommodation which was spotlessly clean, big and comfy. Loads of space with a large veranda which was a great place to be on a sunny afternoon watching life go by at a much slower pace than we are use to. Supermarket was excellent as always, well stocked and I have not found anywhere cheaper in CDP.
Reps in resort were very friendly and easy to talk to, nothing too much trouble.
So another holiday done again in CDP, watching for Siestas 2016 holidays to be available so I can book up again straightaway. Siesta are an excellent company and for me and my family they are the only company we use to take us to France and Spain
Carib1 - April 2015

Just arrived back yesterday from our first Siesta holiday - absolutely amazing! We set off 9th september for Calella De Palafrugell, also doing the disneyland Paris stopover on the journey down. There was 3 adults, a child and a baby in our party. First of all, the club class premier coach we travelled on was brilliant - exceeded expectations!
I was a little nervous about the long journey with two small children, but as soon as we boarded we settled down and were made to feel welcome straight away by your coach drivers and lovely hostess Fran. We were lucky enough to have the top front row seats, there was plenty of leg room and space for hand luggage etc. The reclining seats were great, and entertainment on the individual tv screens was far better than expected - hundreds of up to date films to choose from as well as classics, tv series, loads for children and music albums too! The coach also had free wifi which was a bonus. The hostess service really was fantastic, nice cheaply priced food and drinks which made the journey alot more comfortable. The coach was immaculate and cleaned at regular intervals on the journey too. We got plenty of breaks to stretch our legs, and were kept up to date with plans by the driver over the tannoy. We found all staff extremely pleasant, professional and very friendly.
Arriving at our disney stopover hotel later that evening, we were amazed! We stayed in the explorers hotel, just a short walk from the Disney park. It was brilliant for the kids who enjoyed time in the softplay before all getting a good nights sleep. Breakfast the next day was lovely - huge choice! Disneyland paris was magical and enjoyed by all of us, it was great that we got to stay until 8pm there. Overnight journey to spain was easy as the children were tired out and slept all night.
Arriving at camping la siesta in CDP we were welcomed by friendly reps. There was a problem with a missing suitcase which was not on the transfer bus when we arrived, and had been left on the mainline coach. Reps reassured us they would sort it, and brought the missing case to our lodge later the same evening. We stayed in a new chalet 5 close to the pool which was immaculate and fully equipped - really impressed. The all weather covered decking came in useful during a storm with torrential rain one night, we were able to sit out and watch the thunder and lightening. Apart from the storm, the weather was nice and hot for the 10 days we spent here. Campsite was lovely, well stocked supermarket, bakery etc.. Fantastic pool, bar & restaurant and very good kids club/park area our kids loved it! The site was very clean and tidy, excellent location too close to picture perfect towns and beaches. We were wowed by the quality and facilities onsite, and by the friendly siesta reps who made us very welcome.
We very much enjoyed our time in CDP, and will certainly return to this beautiful peaceful part of costa brava! Thankyou siesta for a wonderful experience, already recommended you to people. Worth every penny and very good value for money - already looking at our next holiday! Thankyou to the lovely staff who helped make our holiday unforgettable. Keep up the great work!
